In alignment with Rotary International’s September theme of Basic Education and Literacy , the Rotary Club of Seef Bahrain hosted an impactful two-day educational forum, bringing together members and guests to reflect on Bahrain’s educational legacy and explore the future of learning in a fast-evolving global landscape. The forum’s first day featured a compelling presentation by club member Rotarian Esam Alkhayat titled “ The History of Education in Bahrain .” Mr. Alkhayat took the audience on a journey through time — from the early Islamic era to the modern day — highlighting major milestones, historical challenges, and the resilience that has shaped Bahrain’s robust educational system. His talk offered a rare and rich perspective on how education has evolved as a pillar of national development. The second day shifted focus toward the future with an engaging talk by fellow Rotarian Dr. Tariq Al-Sindi , “ Aligning Education with the Labor Market: Curricula of the Future and Skills of Tomorrow. ” Dr. Al-Sindi emphasized the urgent need for educational institutions to adapt curricula to meet the dynamic needs of today’s workforce. He outlined global trends in higher education, stressed the importance of skills-based learning, and called for deeper collaboration between academia and industry. Dr. Al-Sindi also underscored the role of innovation and quality standards in building agile education systems. He advocated for cultivating graduates who are not only knowledgeable but employable — equipped to contribute meaningfully to Bahrain’s sustainable economic progress. Together, the two-day forum reflected the Rotary Club of Seef Bahrain’s strong commitment to fostering education and literacy. The event provided a platform for meaningful dialogue, intergenerational learning, and forward-thinking ideas — reinforcing the club’s role in shaping conversations that matter for Bahrain’s future.
