Rotary members and friends concluded centennial commemoration on 29 November 2025, marking the 100th Anniversary of the first Rotary Club in Hungary. The festivities honored the founding of the Rotary Club Budapest in 1925, an event that launched the Rotary movement in the country.
The centenary program, organized by Rotary District 1911 (Hungary), was a grand affair that brought together Rotarians from across the nation and international partners. The celebration began on Friday evening with a fully booked, celebratory cruise on the Danube River, providing a picturesque opening to the weekend of commemoration.
The events culminated last night with a distinguished centennial dinner held at the magnificent Eiffel Art Studios (Eiffel Műhelyház), where guests gathered to honor a century of humanitarian service, ethical business practices, and fostering goodwill.
The atmosphere throughout the commemoration was one of joy and reflection, celebrating a long history of impactful projects, including the promotion of peace, support for education, and health initiatives such as the mention of a Pediatric Laser Surgery Global Grant in Hungary (District 1911) as a highlight of service opportunities.
The celebrations are a testament to the enduring commitment of Hungarian Rotarians to the motto "Service Above Self." They also emphasize the forward-looking vision of the District, which has encouraged the use of modern communication tools to foster unity and connection among its members.
As Rotary in Hungary enters its second century, it remains dedicated to its foundational ideals and continues to build bridges both locally and globally.
