An agreement for collaboration between two major international organizations was signed at the Bursa Unesco SOKUM (Intangible Cultural Heritage) Museum located in Misi. Bursa Unesco Association President İlker Özaslan, District Governor Ayda Özeren (RI District 2440), Deputy Governor Mehmet Dal, Heykel Rotary Club President Ozan Razgırat, and members of the association signed a Rotary Community Corps Agreement aiming for a long-term partnership. With this agreement, the goal is to combine their efforts in cultural, educational, and scientific activities for Bursa and its surroundings.
President İlker Özaslan of the Bursa Unesco Association spoke about the association's efforts to establish institutional structure by forming local and international connections since its establishment in Bursa in 1998. He mentioned the ongoing efforts to restore and allocate a historic house in Misi,Bursa as a museum for the association. Approval from the Ministry of Culture and the European Union was obtained for the conversion of the historical house in Misi into a museum through accreditation initiatives, Özaslan added. He expressed his belief that the collaboration with Rotary clubs, known for their longstanding and worldwide community-oriented initiatives, would be highly beneficial for Bursa and the association.
District Governor Ayda Özeren of Rotary 2440 stated that it is an honor for the organization, which has been serving through friendship for peace for 119 years, to enter into such an agreement. Emphasizing Rotary as the first civil society organization with a delegate at the United Nations due to its humanitarian projects, Özeren highlighted the significance of both organizations carrying the flag together in contributing to world peace.
