The Rotary Club of Tripoli, in collaboration with the Order of Physicians in North Lebanon, organized a seminar titled "Artificial Intelligence for Healthier Aging: From Disease Treatment to Prediction and Prevention" at the Rashid Karami International Fair.

The event was attended by District 2452 Governor May Monla Shmaitilly, Chairman and Director General of the Fair Dr. Hani Al-Shaarani, representative of the Mayor of Tripoli Dr. Mohammad Bakri, President of the Order of Physicians in Lebanon–Tripoli Dr. Ibrahim Makdessi, along with several physicians, academics, judges, Rotary club presidents, and representatives from universities and organizations.

Ms. Lina Sahmarani, President of the Rotary Club of Tripoli, emphasized the importance of transitioning from curative medicine to predictive and preventive medicine. Meanwhile, Shmaitilly highlighted the necessity of keeping pace with technological advancements while maintaining a balance between human expertise and artificial intelligence. Dr. Makdessi noted that AI enhances the doctor's role rather than replacing it, calling for training on its use.

Dr. Adnan El Bakri, a Lebanese-French physician and surgeon, delivered a presentation on AI applications in disease prediction, medical imaging and data analysis, personalized medicine, and biological age. He addressed the concepts of the human body's "Digital Twin" and epigenetics.

Dr. El Bakri stressed that the goal is not merely extending lifespan, but expanding healthy life years and improving overall quality of life. He urged turning research and innovation into actionable projects while leveraging Tripoli's scientific and technological talent.

The seminar concluded that the future of medicine is moving toward a model reliant on data analysis, prediction, and prevention, with the primary challenge remaining in deploying technology to serve humanity and enhance quality of life.
