In a powerful demonstration of international cooperation and sustainable community service, the Adıyaman Municipality has officially inaugurated the Women and Children’s Solidarity Center. Developed under the "women-friendly city" vision of Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, this vital facility stands as a testament to the transformative power of Rotary’s global network. The project was brought to life through a prestigious International Service collaboration involving the Şişli Rotary Club (District 2420), the Nemrut Rotary Club (District 2430), and the Hameln Rotary Club alongside the District 1800 Service Committee from Germany.

This center represents a significant milestone in Inter-Country Committee (ICC) relations, as evidenced by the presence of Thomas König, Chair of the ICC Turkey–Germany Friendship Committee, alongside distinguished Rotary leaders including District 2430 Representative Mustafa Faruk Güler, Şişli Rotary President Ahmet Kepkep, and Nemrut Rotary President Kerem Oranlı. By bridging Districts 2420, 2430, and 1800, the project exemplifies how Rotary transcends borders to address local needs through global solidarity, providing a safe haven where women and children can access social, cultural, and psychological support simultaneously.

Reflecting Rotary’s core Areas of Focus—specifically Community Economic Development and Maternal and Child Health—the center is equipped with specialized vocational training rooms. Here, women are empowered to enhance their professional skills and produce handcrafted goods, fostering financial independence and active participation in social life. Furthermore, the facility introduces a groundbreaking initiative for the city: a dedicated music room where students from the Adıyaman Municipality Conservatory can thrive. During the opening ceremony, a moving piano performance by a young conservatory student highlighted the center’s commitment to nurturing the next generation’s artistic potential.

The inauguration of the Women and Children’s Solidarity Center is more than just the opening of a building; it is the realization of a Service Above Self mission to strengthen the culture of solidarity within Adıyaman. By providing vocational education, psychological counseling, and a secure environment for child development, the Rotary clubs involved have created a sustainable platform for social progress. This project serves as a lasting reminder that when local governments and Rotary International unite, they create profound opportunities for peace, equality, and community resilience.
