Rotary District 2475 has officially announced the successful delivery of a brand-new, fully customized training facility for the champion athletes of the "Dodekanisos" Wheelchair Basketball Team in Rhodes. This flagship infrastructure project marks the perfect, impactful conclusion to an incredible 2025–2026 Rotary year under the leadership of District Governor Stefanos Anastasopoulos.
-From Conference to Community Impact
This vital facility stands as a testament to sustainable fellowship, funded entirely by the proceeds of the Panhellenic Rotary Conference held in Rhodes this past April. Co-organized beautifully by the Rotary Club of Rhodes (13434) and the Rotary Club of Rodos-Kolossos, the conference did far more than just spark great ideas—it left a permanent, life-changing footprint on the local host community.
-The True Gift of Service
While District 2475 delivered the physical training space, it was the athletes themselves who gave Rotary the greatest gift.
Spending time with the "Dodekanisos" team serves as a profound reminder to every single volunteer of three core truths:
Strength does not live in the legs—it lives in the soul.
Limits are not set by the body—they are set by the mind.
Courage, perseverance, dignity, and sheer will can defeat any obstacle.
A Multiplied Return
The handover ceremony highlighted the true magic of Rotary service, which never moves in just one direction. Rotarians arrived believing they were there to give these athletes courage, only to leave realizing that they were the ones who had received it.
The project concludes the year on a note full of deep emotion, inspiration, and hope.
Together, District 2475 proves once again that we do not just change lives—we are permanently changed by them !
