On 6 November 2024, VDG Mazen Alumran visited four Cyprus Rotary Clubs in North Cypus at Celsus Business Centre in Nicosia. He held four separate meetings with RC Kyrenia Liman, RC Nicosia Sarayonu, RC Kyrenia St. Hilarion and RC Kyrenia Cosmopolitan's presidents and members of their respective boards.

DDG Demetris Pantazis, AG Panicos Nicoladies and PDDG Tashtan Altuner attended all the meetings with VDG Mazen Alumran. During the meetings, individual club boards shared their plans for the Rotary Year evaluating the current situation and planned upcoming events.

In the evening, a Rotary Gala Dinner was held in VDG Mazen Alumran’s honor which was attended by club members from the four Rotary clubs. It was a dinner with a taste of Rotary fellowship.

DG Hussain of District 2452, due to a medical condition, requested VDG Mazen to visit the RCs of Cyprus on his behalf during the first week of November 2024. The purpose of the visit was to meet and interact with each club to determine and discuss its challenges and offer advice and support as necessary.

VDG Mazen was met and escorted in all his meetings by Deputy District Governor Demetris Pantazis. He was welcomed by all the 19 Rotary Clubs of Cyprus and the interaction was open, friendly yet professional.

The meetings with the Clubs were planned on a geographical basis starting with Larnaca followed by Nicosia, Nicosia and Kyrenia combined, and Limassol combined with Paphos.

Typically, each club would present its work until now and its plan for the rest of the Rotary year, respond to questions by the VDG and the DDG and discuss the major challenges that the club faced. As always there are clubs that are more active than others, some clubs are evidently vibrant and a few need to make greater effort to meet RI’s and the District’s expectations. The message was that the Cyprus Rotary and the District Organisations are here to help and support the clubs to reach a higher standard fulfilling the Rotary International Action Plan.

At each meeting the promotional video for the District Conference was shown and members are eagerly expecting to hear soon the exact dates, the programme and associated cost.

In the evenings the Rotary Clubs organised a fellowship evening where we could meet in a more relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the local food. It was also an opportunity for VDG Mazen to deliver his speech, conveying DG Hussain’s greetings, expressing his appreciation for the heritage of Cyprus and the cordial manner of the meetings.

VDG Mazen is a regular visitor to Cyprus and was clearly enthralled to meet so many old friends during his 4-day visit.
