Elena Janniki is an attorney at law before the Supreme Court of Greece, a member of the Rhodes Bar Association, and an active Rotarian whose professional and personal journey has been shaped by international experience, service and connection across cultures.
Born in Bari and raised in Rhodes, Elena holds both Greek and Italian nationality. Growing up between cultures helped form the international outlook that has accompanied her throughout her professional life. She studied European Law and specialised at the Institute of European Studies of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, developing a particular interest in human rights, international cooperation and development.
Her career has taken her well beyond Greece. From 2002 to 2004, she worked with the European Commission in Luanda, Angola. Later, from 2011 to 2021, she worked with the United Nations Refugee Agency, UNHCR, in Greece. Today she practises law in Rhodes, with a particular focus on real estate and commercial investments.
Her international experience is reflected in the languages she speaks. Elena is a native bilingual speaker of Greek and Italian, is fluent in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish, and has a basic knowledge of Turkish.
For Elena, however, international connection is not only professional. Friendship across borders and contributing to society have long been part of her personal values.
Rotary was present in her life from an early age. Her father, Savvas, was a devoted Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow, and through him she grew up with the understanding that professional achievement carries a responsibility to contribute to the community. Following that example, she became actively involved in Rotary herself.
A member of the Rotary Club of Rodos-Kolossos, District 2475, Elena served as Club President in 2021–22 and Club Public Image Chair in 2023–24. She was Assistant Governor of District 2475 in 2024–25 and serves as Club Vice President and District RYLA Chair in 2026–27.
Her Rotary experience combines leadership, public image, youth development and international service. Her areas of expertise include law, peace and conflict prevention and resolution, government and public administration, and public relations and communications.
Across both her professional and Rotary life, one idea remains constant: meaningful relationships can cross borders, cultures and professions — and become a powerful foundation for service, understanding and lasting impact.
