May Monla Chmaitilly Becomes the First Lebanese Woman to Lead Rotary District 2452
Second Woman to Head Rotary Across Nine Countries
“Leading with Impact. Serving with Passion.”
Rotary District 2452 has officially announced the commencement of May Monla Chmaitilly’s term as District Governor for the 2026–2027 Rotary year, marking a historic milestone as she becomes the first Lebanese woman—and only the second woman in the District’s history—to serve in this role.
District 2452 encompasses Rotary and Rotaract clubs across nine countries, and throughout her term Governor Chmaitilly will provide leadership to thousands of Rotarians and Rotaractors committed to advancing Rotary’s mission of service, peacebuilding, leadership development and sustainable community impact.
Her theme for the year, “Leading with Impact. Serving with Passion.”, reflects a commitment to strengthening clubs while delivering meaningful, measurable results.
“This Rotary year is not about doing more,” Governor Chmaitilly said. “It is about doing what we do better—with greater impact, stronger purpose and a clearer vision.”
“Together, we will build stronger clubs, inspire more engaged members, empower more young leaders and create positive, lasting change in the communities we serve.”
Her strategic priorities include strengthening club vitality, fostering a culture of belonging, engaging young professionals, Rotaractors and Rotary program alumni, expanding support for The Rotary Foundation and the global effort to eradicate polio, investing in youth leadership and peacebuilding, enhancing Rotary’s public image, and promoting innovation, strategic planning and responsive community service.
Governor Chmaitilly described her appointment as both a personal milestone and a reflection of Rotary’s commitment to inclusive, service-driven leadership.
“I accept this responsibility with gratitude, humility and confidence in what we can achieve together. This is a shared journey for every Rotarian and Rotaractor in our District as we lead with purpose, serve with passion and leave a legacy of lasting impact.”
